As part of Intel Corp’s Wired for Management initiative, software company Magic Solutions Inc says it plans to integrate its SupportMagic SQL query tool with the chip giant’s Desktop Integrator Technology. Intel’s initiative aims to reduce the total cost of personal computer ownership, and Israeli-based Magic believes the integration of help desk and network management technologies has been in the pipeline for some time, and has finally come together. Magic says it will now be possible to extract critical information from desktops equipped with Intel’s LANDesk Management Suite, as well as Novell Inc’s ManageWise and Microsoft Corp’s Management Suite. Support services staff will be able to respond more effectively to service requests, while increasing first-call resolution rates and times, end user productivity and ultimately customer satisfaction. Magic says it plans to include Intel’s Desktop Integrator Technology with the release of its SupportMagic Enterprise Edition 4.0 product which is scheduled for release in the autumn. It believes its customers will have access to a flexible, cost effective way to maintain and manage their support and network operations without leaving their desks, according to Magic’s vice president Andrew Rawson.
