Intel Corp says it expects to announce plans for new manufacturing or testing facilities at a rate of one every six months, to meet increasing demand. The company expects that new chip plants, which cost about $1.5bn to $2.5bn each, will be announced once a year. Other announcements will
concern testing and assembly facilities or plants for other components. Intel currently has chip plants under construction in Ireland and Israel, and has plans for test and assembly facilities in China and Costa Rica. Eastern European sites are being considered, but could be a few years away.
