Intel Corp will be launching its Xeon Pentium III server chip on March 17. The chip, which was code-named Tanner, is expected to be initially available in a 500MHz version, with a 600MHz due before year-end. The company is expected to launch its 8-way server chipset, code-named Saber, around the same time. The chipset will use the new Xeons and is based around technology that Intel bought from Corollary Inc in 1997.
