Intel Corp will be introducing six new 32-bit microprocessors versions of the 80386 tailored for specific niche markets – the company told analysts last week, adding that the 80486 would not be announced this year: Intel also expects high single digit sales and earnings growth for the current, first, quarter compared with the fourth quarter of 1987, when it earned $95.5m net on sales of $572.5m; supplies of 80386 chips should be in balance with demand by mid-year.
