Semiconductor giant Intel Corp has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnamese government, with the intention of encouraging the growth of personal computing in the country. The agreement is affective immediately and will be valid until 2000, Intel providing training and seminars to increase the skill levels of systems engineers. Intel will also help the government’s Steering Committee for the National Program on Information Technology to establish quality standards and processes to speed growth. The Vietnamese government announced in the summer that the infrastructure was in place to get the country online (CI No 3,190), and this new agreement will see Intel exchanging technology trend information with IT users and the Hanoi-based government.
