Intel Corp’s P7 launch will be a two-punch move, with a 32-bit part planned to arrive before the full-blown 64-bit affair – which is the one being developed with Hewlett-Packard Co and is expected late-1997. It’s the one that will be backwards-compatible with both iAPX-86 and Precision Architecture RISC instruction sets reckons Computerworld.
