Eicon Networks Corp has purchased all the product lines from Intel’s Dialogic acquisition, as well as Host Media Processing software and HMP-enabled blades, for an undisclosed amount. Intel’s line of SS7, PBX integration and gateway products are also part of the deal.
Montreal, Canada-based Eicon said Intel’s technology would compliment its own Diva Server line.
For Intel, the move is part of its ongoing major overhaul of operations, first announced in April, to streamline the company and make it more competitive.
In June, Santa Clara, California-based Intel sold its communications and applications processor business to Marvell Technology for $600m.
Intel is sharpening its focus on communications and embedded market segments that are aligned with our core businesses, said Anthony Neal-Graves, general manager of Intel’s modular communications platform division, in a statement.
Eicon also announced that Investcorp and Tennenbaum had invested money in the money, with the latter also providing a credit facility.
The Intel deal is expected to close in four to six weeks.
Intel said the sale, which includes about 600 Intel workers, does not affect its infrastructure products including its Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture blades and carrier-grade rack mount servers, or its CompactPCI compute blades and chassis.
