Intel Corp wants to ride the InfoBahn in a significant diversification and has reached agreements with Prodigy Services Co, America OnLine Inc, Reality Technologies Inc, News Electronic Data, Redgate Communications/Medior Inc and Softbank Inc to deliver new interactive services for home personal computers over cable; it is also working with several others including Compton’s NewMedia Inc, CUC International Inc, Delphi Internet Services Inc, Hollywood Online Inc and the Microsoft Corp-Tele-Communications Inc Programming Channel Joint Venture to provide services ranging from multimedia encyclopaedias and other titles, to on-line shopping, personal news on demand, multimedia movie kits, and specialised personal computer programming via cable; it is working with General Instrument Corp, Tele-Communications and Rogers Cablesystems Ltd to define and develop capabilities to deliver data to the personal computer at speeds of up to 1,000 times faster than the fastest modems available.
