Intel Corp may have taken a stake in Be Inc, the multimedia operating system company, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Be, based in Menlo Park, California, announced shipments of its Be Operating System Release 3 earlier this month, the first version to run on Intel Pentium-based personal computers. It had originally concentrated on Apple Macintosh versions. The paper says that an Intel executive recently hinted about an investment during a trade show keynote speech, but later refused to confirm or deny any such investment. Intel has been very free with its money lately and taken stakes in companies such as Discreet Logic Inc, Abstract Inc, Network Computing Devices Inc and Inktomi Corp.
