The chip giant is leading Eclipse’s recently announced Test and Performance Tools Platform Top Level Project, which began life as Hyades, to provide a framework for interoperability across the software quality aspects of the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) cycle.

The Test and Performance Tools Platform Top Level Project consists of four subprojects, providing a core platform for data modeling and collection, testing, tracing and monitoring. Intel itself is moving its own Vtune performance analysis tools over to the open source Eclipse and Hyades projects.
Thessen said the frameworks would ensure interoperability between different tools combined with expediency and efficiency in Intel’s own development laboratories, because engineers can leverage the existing underlying Eclipse and Hyades infrastructure.
