Intel Corp are funding the launch of a virtual model on the Internet of Stonehenge, the 5,000-year-old collection of massive boulders in the UK which is aligned with the sunrise on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. The virtual Stonehenge project has basically been funded by Intel Corp as a way to promote its Pentium Pro microprocessors, in this the 25th anniversary year of the microprocessor. The Internet model is scalable, enabling users with faster processors to get higher levels of detail and more realistic frame rates. Using Netscape Communications Corp’s Navigator and Superscape’s Viscape virtual Web browser (CI No 2,881), users will be able to roam through the ancient monument and experience the famous summer solstice sunrise. The Internet model is found at www.intel.com.
