San Francisco-based comparison shopping site Compare.net says it has received an undisclosed investment and the promise of technical assistance on multimedia from silicon giant Intel Corp. Though Compare.net is a closely held private company, in the past it has accepted funding from GE Capitals’ Equity Capital Group and from Media Tech Ventures. With a business model not unlike that of Paul Allen’s PersonaLogic (CI No 3,427), Compare.net says it aims to provide comprehensive product information to help net shoppers make informed purchasing decisions. This information includes comparison charts, glossary of terms and even links to online partner retailers. The Intel money means new multimedia features for Compare.net, just in time for December’s buying frenzy.
