As part of the deal, SiRF will license some of its location-based wireless technologies to Intel and will co-develop products that may be incorporated into future Intel mobile silicon and software bundles.

The companies will jointly market and sell the products for use in various devices, including mobile phones and handheld consumer devices. Intel general manage of mobile wireless said the deal would enable it to combine WiMax and WiFi with GPS for notebooks and mobile Internet devices.

SiRF VP of marketing Kanwar Chadha said the deal also would enable new products for enterprise markets, but did not elaborate.

Financial terms of the deal were not announced.
