Intel Corp and SAP AG are planiing a Japanese subsidiary of their electronic commerce joint venture, Pandesic LLC. The companies established Pandesic last August (CI No 3,219), and until now have only concentrated on the company’s business in the US. The Japanese division of the company will be based in Tokyo, initially employing just one person – a president – who will hire staff as and when they are needed. According to Pandesic’s director of marketing, James Moriarty, the Japanese operation will be run on a small scale, and staff numbers won’t come close to the 100 people that work at the company’s US base in Sunnyvale, California. Control of the new division will be directed from the US. Moriarty said the Japanese division will be looking to establishing partnerships and customers in the remaining part of the year. Moriarty also said the company is currently exploring European opportunities at the moment, and is likely to open an office at some point in the future. Exact details are not known.
