Intel releases Extreme Edition Core, Desktop Board

Stormville will support Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossfireX configurations

Intel has released its Extreme Edition Core i7-3970X processor and the Extreme Series Intel Desktop Board DX79SR.

Claimed to be the firm’s highest performance Extreme Edition processor, the device includes 6 Cores, Intel Hyper-Threading technology, 15 MB cache, and 4 Channels of DDR3 memory.

Codenamed as ‘Stormville’, the Intel Desktop Board DX79SR, is aimed at delivering highest performance for premium features including 8 memory DIMMs, 64GB of memory, 3 PCIExpress 3.0 x16 graphics connectors.

Stormville will support Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossfireX configurations, in addition to complete balance of controls aimed for performance tuning and overclocking.

The Overclocking Assistant offers single-step overslocking, while BIOS Vault technology offers security to the board, while providing fault tolerant and secure firmware.

Fast Boost will speed through boot times and reduce unnecessary delays.
