Integrated Systems Inc, Santa Clara, California has announced plans to move its pSOS real-time operating system onto NEST, Novell Inc’s Embedded Systems Technology for NetWare in an effort to create a standard for connecting embedded systems. Integrated Systems says the pSOS operating system used with NetWare Embedded Systems will hook up intelligent devices to a local network in real time and offer multi-protocol support for the network. Initial applications look likely to be in office applications. Using pSOS with NetWare Embedded Systems will enable printers and facsimile machines to be hooked up to a NetWare server via NetWare Directory Services within NetWare Embedded Systems which will register the server and configure it accordingly. Users will therefore be able to create a PostScript document on a personal computer to a facsimile machine via an available printer so it can raster scan it and then transmit the document to the facsimile machine
