INTEGRATED DEVICE GIVE NEW PLANT GO-AHEAD

By CBR Staff Writer

Integrated Device Technology Inc, Santa Clara, has decided to go ahead with its new chip fabrication plant, and has scooted up the coast to Hillsboro, Oregon to find a site: plans call for a 190,000 square foot building with a 48,000 square foot class-one clean room for processing 8 wafers in the Dawson Creek Park: Integrated says that it liked the combination of location, labour force, facility support, and excellent environment for employees and their families; at full capacity it will employ 500 to 600 local residents at the site and will have invested a total of $400m in plant and equipment and the plant will be capable of processing 30,000 8 wafers a quarter.
