Integral Peripherals Inc, Boulder, Colorado is now shipping the 40Mb version of its 1.8 disk drive, the Stingray 1842, from its pilot manufacturing facility in Boulder. Volume manufacturing starts next month when and Integral also plans a Stingray 1842P with a PCMCIA-style memory card connector. The Stingray 1842 measures just 0.6 high by 2 wide by 3 long including an on-board AT controller with an IDE interface. The drive has been designed to be fully compatible and interchangeable with Integral’s 20Mb Mustang 1820. It uses 35mW in standby mode, 15mW in sleep mode. It recovers from sleep mode in about a second. It weighs 3.3oz. Integral did not give any indication of price.
