InteCom has an OEM agreement in principle with Digital Communications Associates Inc of Alpharetta, Georgia to distribute DCA’s latest X25 PAD, packet assembler/disassembler. Called the DPAX-1100, the product will be sold by InteCom as the X25 InteNet Packet Controller, IPC. It gives users of Wang’s IBX PABX up to 32 simultaneous asynchronous links to public and private data networks. Asynchronous terminals are supported at up to 19.2Kbps and synchronous trunk connections at up to 56Kbps. InteCom has customised configurations including data terminal equipment or data computer exchange ports, HDLC and LAPB formats and either RS232 or V35 trunk links. The X25 IPC is based on the 1984 CCITT X3, X25, X28 and X29 standards to address markets worldwide. It also supports the physical, data-link and network layers, the fourth, fifth and sixth layers, defined by the International Standards Organisation model. The DPAX-1100 has been beta tested by one of InteCom’s larger data users providing X25 connections between Switzerland, Australia and the US with joint support from InteCom and DCA. The X25 IPC will interface to the IBX through InteCom’s rack-mounted Asynchronous Data Interface, called the ADI-101. Wang says the strength of the X25 IPC is its ability to link local and remote locations. Based 30 miles north of Atlanta, DCA designs, manufactures and markets voice and data communications products, and personal computer communications products.
