Intalio adds BAM to BPM platform

Intalio Inc has struck a partnership with Celequest Inc to embed event-based business analytics, metrics and monitoring capabilities into its flagship open source business process management system (BPMS).

By CBR Staff Writer

Intalio’s open source process modeling and execution platform will now include Celequest’s pre-packaged process management dashboards, which industry pundits classify as business activity monitoring (BAM). The dashboards, which surface performance metrics on various process dimensions like cycle times, bottlenecks, and work queues, can be automatically generated when Intalio’s business process engine executes.

The software will be included in the Community Edition of Intalio BPMS. Intalio says that customers can also upgrade to the Enterprise Edition if they so wish.

Intalio bought privately-held FiveSight Technologies Inc last December to help drive its new open source strategy for BPM.

Chicago-based FiveSight was the company that first brought the open source Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) 2.0 specification, which is an emerging standard for defining business process and interaction protocols, to market.

Intalio has added the specification to its BPMS 4.0 platform which is expected to be released in the first quarter of this year.

The company says it will continue to develop FiveSight’s BPEL engine under the open source common public license. It expects to release a process designer and workflow suite under similar licenses later in 2006.
