INSURANCE COMPANY LOSES FIRST UK EMAIL LIBEL CASE

The UK’s Norwich Union insurance company was forced to pay out 450,000 pounds in damages to health insurance group Western Providence Association last week, after sending out electronic mail messages questioning the company’s financial viability. It was said to be the first time a UK company has received damages for being libeled via email.
