Instagram redesigns mobile photo pages

The new web photo view will enable the user to comment and 'like' photos loaded onto the page

By CBR Staff Writer

Instagram has released its redesigned view of web-based photo pages on mobile devices.

The new web photo view will allow the user to comment on and ‘like’ photos while in a browser such as Safari or Chrome, without any requirement of logging into the Instagram application.

Instagram has developed a new ‘open in app’ button, appearing on the top right corner of the screen, tapping on which will launch the Instagram app, with the photo that was on earlier, loaded into the main view.

The button will also allow users to navigate into their profile page and look at the remaining photo feed.

Instagram has commenced releasing new web and mobile updates over the summer, starting from a website upgrade to enable comments and likes on photos, in addition to larger images.

In August 2012, the Federal Trade Commission and California Department of Corporations have approved acquisition of Instagram by the social network Facebook in a transaction worth $715m.

The acquisition follows Instagram’s launch of Android app.
