Boston, Massachusetts-based Inso Corp has acquired Boulder, Colorado-based Henderson Software Inc for $750,000. Henderson specializes in Computer Graphics Metafile viewing and filtering technology, the graphics format standard used in aerospace, defense and automotive industries, key customer areas for Inso says the company. Inso plans to incorporate the technology into its DynaText and DynaWeb electronic publishing tools for delivering large documents via CD-ROM and the web, but adds that it hasn’t yet decided on a timeframe for the integration. The deal will be accounted for as a purchase and will see Henderson become a wholly own subsidiary of Inso, with founder and president Lofton Henderson becoming director of advanced graphics for Inso’s electronic publishing software division. Henderson Software will remain located at its existing headquarters in Boulder. Meanwhile Inso said it will write off around $500,000 in a one time charge attributed to research and development costs. Inso gained a new competitor earlier this year in the shape of Verity Inc, which acquired FTP Software Inc’s KeyView viewing and filtering product line (CI No 3,170). Previously Verity was a user of Inso products for its search and retrieval products.
