Thorn-EMI’s Inmos International Ltd is pitching for a share of the burgeoning telecommunications market at Telecom ’87 in Geneva this week with launch of the IMS COO4 single chip digital switch. The COO4 connects up to 32 inputs to 32 outputs in any order, han-dling traffic at up to 20Mbits per second and can be cascaded to any depth. Inmos says that combined with the CO11 and CO12 communications link chips, it provides all the components for a high-speed full duplex network with synchronised message transmission. It is being shown in a network of signal processors and Transputers.
