INMAC CUT 73 JOBS

Those that imagined that Santa Clara-based Inmac Corp produced nothing more advanced than catalogues have a surprise coming, for the company makes a significant proportion of the supplies, accessories and data communications products in its catalogues but it will be making fewer following a decision to cut 73 jobs at its San Jose plant: it will continue to operate its Scottish data communications plant and Mexican cable assembly facility; the lay-off will mean a $500,000 fourth quarter charge.
