Redwood Shores, California-based Ingres said that Wipro will also create an open source solutions practice based in its Bangalore facilities with the open source Ingres database at its core.

The two companies will collaborate on open source offerings to be taken to market by Wipro’s services teams globally, as well as in its native India.

The deal with Wipro follows an agreement struck between Ingres and Indian consulting firm Satyam Computer Services Ltd last month. Under the terms of that deal Satyam will build a global Ingres practice, initially targeting retail, pharmaceutical, and government, but eventually covering all industry sectors.
