Ingres Japan Ltd has released a Japanese version of the Ingres 6.4 for Sun Microsystems Inc workstations and looks for 300 new users: technical director Mr Matsumoto of Ingres Japan said that the new release would improve the ability of users to extend into international distributed networks, and help sell Ingres into financial and service industries as well as increasing its hold in the manufacturing sector where it is already strong in Japan; Ingres claims that its database is in top place in Europe under Unix with a 23.7% share of the market, followed by Informix with 23.2% and Progress with 16.1%.
