INGRAM MICRO PAYS $28M FOR 21% OF SINGAPORE DISTRIBUTOR

By CBR Staff Writer

Ingram Micro Inc, the Santa Ana, California distributor of computer products, is heading for an Asia Pacific acquisition to add to its recent corporate purchases in North and South America. Ingram is to pay the equivalent of $28m for a 20.9% stake in Singapore-based Electronic Resources Ltd (ERL), a distributor of computer peripherals. This is Ingram’s biggest buy to date and the company views it as a strategic entry point into the world’s fastest growing economic region. Ingram’s distribution business is already hugely successful with revenues and profits growing by 39% and 64% to $4.01bn and $44m respectively in the last quarter. In its last half year, ERM made net profits of $2.5m on revenue of $160m.
