Ingram Micro says the acquisition represents its entry into the AIDC/POS, RFID and enterprise mobility markets.

Through SymTech, Ingram Micro becomes the only distributor with an AIDC/POS presence on four continents, complementing its acquisition of US based Nimax and the launch of AIDC/POS/RFID divisions in Latin America and Asia Pacific within the last two years.

The acquisition will bring new partnership opportunities to SymTech’s manufacturer and service provider customers. Service providers will benefit by gaining access to added training, marketing and business development resources. Manufacturers serving the AIDC/POS market will have access to Ingram Micro’s business development resources and broad customer base.

Ingram Micro has purchased all the assets of SymTech and its subsidiaries, which have operations throughout the Nordic region. As part of the agreement SymTech’s employees will be offered employment with Ingram Micro’s three Scandinavian companies. SymTech will operate as a specialized division within Ingram Micro Nordics.

Kevin Murai, president and chief operating officer, Ingram Micro, said, Ingram Micro has established technology and vertical market solution capabilities, relationships and resources, while SymTech provides respected experience in the European AIDC and POS space. Together, we will create complete, highly marketable technology solutions, which will help our customers gain a distinct competitive advantage in the European marketplace.
