The trial of former Infoseek executive Patrick Naughton, who is charged with crossing state lines seeking sex from a minor, has opened. Infoseek CEO Harry Motro astonished observers when he told the jury that Naughton had called him immediately after being arrested on Santa Monica pier, and that Naughton had said: I did it, I’m sorry. Motro said Naughton went on to ask if he was fired. Yes, you are fired, Motro told him. Naughton had traveled from Seattle to Los Angeles in a company jet. Another executive, Spencer Neumann, traveled with him. Neumann testified that when the two got off the plane, Naughton asked how to get to Santa Monica pier. Prosecutors say that when Naughton arrived on the pier, he met FBI agent Amber Braaten, who had been posing as a schoolgirl when she met Naughton in an online chat room. Braaten testified that she helped arrest Naughton on the pier.
