INFORMIX WINS BP AND MOBIL DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

Informix Corp has struck oil over last year’s decision by British Petroleum Plc and Mobil Corp to combine their $20m European downstream business, and has won the contract to supply the database software for the company’s key retail forecourt sites. Between them, BP and Mobil have 9,000 retail sites, 1,200 of which currently have Informix software, and a further 1,000 have been earmarked for upgrade this year. Informix has also struck it lucky with Kuwait Petroleum International, which has extended its current agreement with the software firm for another three years, representing a $1m investment.
