Taking its first steps in the front-office space, Informix Corp said yesterday it has ported Siebel Systems Inc’s front office application suite to its flagship Internet Foundation.2000 database. The Menlo Park, California-based software vendor said it will embark on an aggressive campaign early in 2000 to market the integrated offering. The move comes as database and ERP vendors alike are rushing to align themselves with front office, customer relationship management vendors in order to be able to offer their customers full front office/back office integration.

Informix, a Siebel Premier Alliance Partner, said it worked closely with Siebel – the number one vendor in this space – to add its CRM software the portfolio of applications already available on the Foundation.2000 platform; the company’s equivalent to rival Oracle Corp’s 8i database. Siebel’s software provides enterprise-wide support for internal sales, marketing, and customer service organizations.
