Informix Corp teamed up with Hewlett-Packard Co yesterday to announce the addition of SAP’s Business Information Warehouse (BIW) to its joint certified data warehousing (CDW) program. CDW is designed to reduce the time taken to implement data warehousing solutions. The announcement is the first to come out of the partnership announced in December 1998.

Under the alliance, Steve Deck, Informix’s HP global business manager said Informix and HP have worked together to optimize their systems for fast data warehouse implementations. SAP’s BIW will be offered on HP 9000 enterprise servers and NetServer systems pre-configured with Informix Dynamic Server 7.3 database. Alongside that, Informix will also offer its Decision Frontier suite, comprising Red Brick’s data mart and extraction, reporting and OLAP tools. The bundle will be sold exclusively through third party integrators including Ernst & Young and Sysix, and the companies expect to add other data warehouses and analytic options to the program in due course.

Deck said the aim is to offer rapid implementation solutions to different vertical markets. Today’s bundle, with SAP, is designed for the manufacturing market, but others, including retail, healthcare and e-commerce, will be made available soon, he said. Although he wouldn’t comment specifically on future partners, Deck said Informix and HP were looking to target leading front end customer relationship management vendors, like Siebel Systems Inc, for the retail space. Announcements will be made over the next couple of months.
