Informix Software Inc has announced Online Extended Parallel Server 8.0, OnLine XPS, its high-end database server for clustered and massively parallel processing systems, based on its Dynamic Scalable Architecture. OnLine XPS includes systems management based on Tivoli Systems Inc’s Tivoli Management Environment (CI No 2,700) and data partitioning. Informix developed OnLine XPS with AT&T Global Information Solutions, IBM Corp and ICL Plc, and has tuned the database server for each vendor’s shared-nothing implementation. OnLine XPS goes into beta test next quarter, and should be available for general distribution in 1996, when a version for Sun Microsystems Inc’s SparcCluster PDB, Parallel DataBase, will is also due to make its debut.
