Informix Software Inc is continuing its push into larger systems, putting its OnLine Dynamic Server Version 7.1 up on 11 systems, including those from AT&T Global Information Solutions, Digital Equipment Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co, Cray Research Superservers Inc, IBM Corp, Pyramid Technology Corp, Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG, Sequent Computer Systems Inc, Silicon Graphics Inc and Sun Microsystems Inc. Version 7.1 includes the same parallel data query, database partitioning, dynamic system configuration and memory grant manager modules as version 7.0, but it has a graphical user interface-based database administration toolset, improved high availability features, parallel data loading for data warehousing and distributed replication, and multi-site replication. Prices for it start from $7,500 for five users and $1,125 for run-time licences. Informix is being offered on Hewlett-Packard servers as part of the company’s Intelligent Warehouse software component of its OpenWarehouse strategy.
