INFORMATION DIMENSIONS MOVES BASIS SEARCH ENGINE TO NT

By CBR Staff Writer

Information Dimensions Inc has moved its Basis document search engine to NT as part of an upgrade that includes three-tier client-server support with an NT server sitting between clients and databases that may contain terabytes of documents. Besides positioning NT between users and legacy databases, Basis 8.0 uses NT to provide web access to the databases being searched, including access to document databases on VMS and MVS mainframes, and can scan up to 100 document databases simultaneously in any of 26 languages – Basis, for either NT or Unix, is $22,000, or $25,000 for a version with Internet support.
