Information Builders (UK) Ltd of Wembley, Middlesex claims it is the first non-vendor of Novell Inc software to implement a product as a value added process with the release of its PC/Focus MultiUser version for Novell’s entry-level Netware 2.1: this version implements the identical client-server architecture found in Focus for minis or mainframes and provides access controlled by the PC/Focus database server without ever locking a record; before the development of Netware 2.1 the Focus database server would have required a dedicated micro as well as file servers and nodes but now all the programming hooks and tools to write a process such as the database server are written into the file server; consequently the Focus server runs as an additional process to the Netware operating system adding value to the file server.
