Information Builders Inc claims to be the first relational database software vendor to offer a complete application development and decision support front end for use with the Sybase – Ashton – Tate – Microsoft SQL Server. Focus for SQL Server is an optional read-write interface for PC/Focus for OS/2, and is claimed to deliver the full functionality of the SQL-based relational database server through the Focus language and tool set. Focus for SQL Server enables all PC/Focus facilities to be used transparently with SQL Server and Focus databases. A complete system with SQL Server requires a Microsoft LAN Manager compatible local area network – 3Com 3+ Open from 3Com Corp, Ungermann-Bass Net/One LAN Manager or IBM LAN Server. Focus for SQL Server Interface is out now in the US at $400 per four users.
