Information Advantage Inc which completed an initial public offering at the end of last year, told the BankAmerica Robertson Stephens Technology Conference that it intends to make a strategic shift to focus on intranet-based data warehousing applications using its DecisionSuite set of online analytical processing applications and tools and the WebOLAP codeless desktop for the web. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based firm says that two recently won big contracts, from Electronic Data Systems Inc and 3M Co, helped it decide. Essentially, the market is telling us that ultra-thin client, server-centric OLAP is the best choice for intranet and extranet deployment, said president and CEO Larry Ford. The move lowers the cost of ownership, allows universal secure access to OLAP applications and increases the value of data warehouses and data marts, he said.
