By CBR Staff Writer

Litton Industries Inc’s Integrated Automation division in Alameda, California has been awarded a multimillion dollar contract by Boeing Co to provide an electronic document management system: the Reference Engineering Data Automated Retrieval System will be able to record, store, distribute and display up to 2m engineering drawings, plus parts lists and technical documentation digitally at Boeing Commercial Aircraft Co’s headquarters in Renton, Washington state and two other locations; the system is set to go in by January 1990 and more than 600 terminals will provide access to the documents for manufacturing and engineering departments, and a fast data link will tie all three locations together.
