The J-series routers form the basis of DIKNAS’ nationwide network, which will provide internet access to thousands of schools. The network will also serve database applications, video conferencing and other network applications related to the operation of Indonesia’s education system.

This is the first phase of our nationwide education network deployment which is on track to eventually connect thousands of schools, said Bondan Sapto Prakoso, technical team leader at DIKNAS. It is imperative that Indonesian students and schools be supported by a modern communications infrastructure offering not just access to internet resources but the interchange of education materials and operational information.

Juniper Networks J-series routers offer a variety of flexible interfaces that deliver secure reliable network connectivity to remote, branch, and regional offices. They run modular Junos software, which offers advanced routing (including support for MPLS, IPv6, QoS, and multicast) and security services. The DIKNAS network will extensively use the J-series’ support for multicasting and MPLS.

The DIKNAS school network is remotely managed by PT Telkom, Indonesia’s largest telecommunications service provider, in conjunction with Juniper partner, Siemens Communications. Both companies will provide ongoing support and additional development for DIKNAS.
