INDIANS COURT FOREIGN ELECTRONIC AND TELECOM FIRMS

Senior Indian government and trade officials are trying to woo foreign electronic and telecommunications firms to set up manufacturing plants in the country, citing low wages and a five year tax exemption as two main incentives: N Vittalm, secretary of the government’s Department of Electronics, says the country’s new Electronic Hardware Technology Park policy enables foreign companies to own their electronic manufacturing divisions outright and allows unrestricted and duty-free imports of raw materials, components and capital goods.
