India Satcom Ltd., India’s first very small aperture terminal VSAT manufacturer has restructured its business to focus on communications software. The firm’s software business will now be a separate profit center with an initial investment of $0.25m. Sales in the first year of operations 1998/99 (April-March) are expected to top $1m. The firm will offer customized enterprise resource planning solutions for Indian industries, internet-related software solutions, Euro-conversion, and interactive voice response, electronic fund transfer and communications software expertise. The share of Indian communication software exports is expected to grow from 11% to 25% over the next five years. The firm is also examining the possibilities of providing network infrastructure to potential Internet Service Providers.
