Houston-based IMSL Inc and Precision Visuals Inc, Boulder, Colorado are merging on undisclosed terms to create a new $38m-a-year company called Visual Numerics Inc. Headquartered in the Texas cow-town, Visual Numerics will bring together IMSL’s application development tools for numerical and graphical applications in science, engineering and business with Precision Visuals’ Visual Data Analysis software for application developers and end users. The Boulder base will be retained and all established sales offices in the US, France, Germany, the UK and Japan remain open. IMSL’s subroutine libraries support Fortran and C programming on over 50 systems. Visual Data Analysis is an interactive system designed to aid professionals in the analysis, exploration and interpretation of big data sets. Flagship product is PV-Wave, including a command language and PV-Wave Point & Click data analysis for users.
