IMS AMERICA MAKES NOISES ABOUT SALE OF IBM PS/2

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM may have shipped 1m PS/2s to dealers (actually it hasn’t, lots have gone to large end users), but how many of the ones that have gone to dealers have moved on to customers? Another US market research firm, IMS America, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, is making bearish noises on the subject: it reck ons that Apple’s dollar sales in the three months June to August rose 208% over the same period last year, Compaq Computer saw dollar volume up 166%, but IBM dollars rose only 69%; in terms of units, Compaq saw a 315% gain, Apple 208%, but IBM only 72%, according to IMS.
