In My Opinion (IMO), a new player in the low cost smartphone market in the UK, has launched two new smartphones exclusively with Virgin as carrier and Brightstar as distributor.
In My Opinion is owned by Verve Connect, a company with an existing portfolio of tablets, 3G/4G WiFi hotspots and smart TV boxes.
The two Android powered smartphones are IMO Q priced at £29.99 on pre-pay, £39.99 SIM free and IMO S (contract).
IMO Q pre-pay variant is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processer with 1GB of RAM, has a four inch WVGA screen, a 5 megapixel rear camera with 2 megapixel front camera.
The phone has an internal storage of 8GB which can be expanded to 32GB via MicroSD card. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. IMO Q has a 1450mAh battery, which could provide charge for a day, given that this phone does not have an HD screen.
IMO S is slightly higher end compared to IMO Q and it is available on contract with Virign, starting at £8.50 per month.
It sports a five inch HD screen, a 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The internal memory is twice as much on IMO Q with 16GB, with an option for MicroSD expansion slot, up to 32GB.
It has 1.5GB of RAM, 1950mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
In My Opinion’s sales and propositions head Nigel Whitehead noted that the company aims to offer best value smartphones sacrificing neither on functionality nor on quality.
The phones have been designed with the average UK household in mind, where the parents should not be hesitant in giving their phones to children because of risk of breakage and young people should not hesitate to own the phone due to the cost of maintenance.
The phones will target families, youngsters and late adopters of smartphones.
The company says that with these phones, it looks to grab a 3% market share in the UK in the coming 18 months.
