In an attempt to get its name more widely recognized, imaging and information operation Imation Corp has decided to change the name of its Luminous Technology Corp wholly-owned subsidiary. The pre-press and print production software developer division will now be known as Imation Publishing Software Corp, effective immediately. Oakdale, Minnesota-based Imation acquired Luminous, a spin-off from Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co in September 1996 (CI No 2,990). But now Imation hopes the name change will aid it in the building of a more high-profile company, as well as removing confusion over brand names among customers. Existing Luminous product lines will keep their current names, but will be recognized with the Imation name.
