Ilog SA, the Paris, France, software company, is buying Cplex Optimization Inc, the Incline Village, Nevada, linear optimization software company for around $30m. Ilog and Cplex share a common vision about the need for embeddable optimization software for solving dynamic resource allocation problems in a wide range of industries, said Ilog president and chief executive Pierre Haren. Privately-owned Cplex is being bought for 1.7 million Ilog shares and cash.
