Financial derivatives provider IG Group is planning to launch an app for the Apple Watch to help its clients trade in international markets.
The app will be available from 24th April, and will be installed automatically after downloading. This marks its first foray into wearables.
IG highlighted that by introducing the new app, it will become the first online trading providers to launch an app for the Apple Watch.
The IG app is based upon the company’s existing trading technology and is likely to provide customers with more direct ways to trade and monitor the financial markets.
The app will facilitate users to buy and sell stocks through a one-tap login, and it will also allow users to spread bet across a number of asset classes and trade CFDs.
With personalised watch-lists, IG’s clients will be able to view and open positions on the markets relevant to them, and their iPhone app push notifications will sync with the watch to let clients get ahead in the game.
IG head of Technology Ivan Gowan said: "The launch of this app follows IG’s revolutionary stockbroking platform launch and Sunday trading offering.
"These clearly demonstrate that improving the client experience through superior technology is at the heart of what IG does.
"We believe that trading on a watch is another important step in simplifying the trading and user experience.
"The features and functionality have been developed to ensure clients can access markets and execute trades in a simplified and immediate manner. Not only will IG’s clients have the best of IG’s 40 years of trading experience at their fingertips, they will also have access to the best technology on hand to do so."
