If you’re a tiny company with a few samples of a new chip, it’s not too hard to leap in and say that you are the first to ship products using that chip, so it is that Myrias Corp, Edmonton, Alberta is claiming to be the first to ship a machine built around the desperately late Motorola Inc 68040: the company says it delivered its first Myrias SPS-3, which uses 32 68040s to the Canadian Network for Space Research last month, where it will be used at the University of Alberta Space Physics Group to assist researchers in a study of the acceleration of ionised particles in deep space.
